Collaboration with Sturdy Bags Designs
In early May I was commissioned by a friend of mine, Chris, to illustrate a section of a topographic map from the Minnesota Boundary Waters to then have that image be made into a set of bike packing bags made by our friend Joe at Sturdy Bag Designs.
We met up at a brewery in Minneapolis called Pryes and discussed color, scale, which section or sections of the map he wanted and everything in between. Chris wanted the color palette of the bags to be fairly neutral but have the lines communicate the difference between the water and land topography, thus why we chose black for the background, grey for the land and blue for water. Check out photos below to see the in process and final pieces!
